Staten Island Ferry- (Project Developed while doing 2 weeks Artist Residency Program in NYC organised by Women Street Photographers )

The true magic of New York photography often lies in discovering the hidden gems. Staten Island Ferry , the project I ended up exhibiting , helped me to experience the most compelling aspects of New York, that is the city’s cultural diversity. It was so hard to shoot within a confined space with limited time but this project has given me enough opportunity to explore every possibility. After spending four whole days on the ferry I produced a cohesive body of work which was exhibited as my first solo exhibition at EI Barrios Artspace as part of the annual exhibition of Women street Photographers festival in collaboration with Leica Women Foto Project . On my last day of shooting on the ferry I saw a man in his formals wearing a hat standing on the deck alone with a briefcase . His eyes were on the far edge and I saw the Manhattan view in the background and I could hear soft background music in my ears . I realised the peace NYC holds at the end of the day despite being the busiest city is unparalleled and I realised the project is finally end. I then bow down to the universe for giving me such an incredible experience I had in New York City.

Co-Existence

Human and Animals are one of the most beautiful creations of nature. They are different and at the same they are connected to each other with an invisible chain of understanding and thus balancing the nature. The more I discover new places the more I understand this unnoticed bond. There is a lyrical symmetry between these two. Sometime it is the texture, sometime it is the colour tone, sometime it is the pattern and sometime it is the similar action.

Through this project I have tried to portray a rhythmic visual narrative or visual dialogue between these pair images .
